The optimal vertical farming tower for your backyard
These are the premises of our home farming approach:
- Succession planting is the key to achieving a continuous food flow. If you want to know why, CLICK HERE.
- Straightforward gardening: Compost or Vermicompost, seeds (preferably heirloom), and a weekly planter replacement routine.
- Self-watering planters are critical to achieve high production levels and to save time.
However, sunny space availability remains the main restriction to significant food yields. That is why a vertical farming tower is needed.
We have based our method on the Double Helix Planter Stand (2HPS) to keep the system in control and optimize space.

We also developed a succession planting spreadsheet or chart that can become your farming garden planning tool.
You just need to fill the table with your weekly vegetable consumption in units, five cucumbers, for example, and your expected yield per plant for that particular crop.
The spreadsheet will calculate how many plants and planters you must set up weekly to achieve the desired food flow.
However, as we said at the beginning, setting up a farming garden requires space. Even with optimal yields, you will realize that you will need to grow vertically.
That is why we developed the Double Helix Planter Stand (2HPS) as our high density vertical farming tower alternative. It will help you save space and maintain control of the succession planting sequences.
If you want to easily assemble it, purchase our 2HPS CORE KIT for only $220.00.
You will have to buy 14 4-foot 6×2-inch boards at your nearest lumber store that will cost less than 70 dollars, but you will set it up faster than doing it from scratch.
Our sideline goal is to collect reliable yield data for every variety cycle, allowing us to plan the farming garden to meet a continuous food volume target.
With time, you will see the crop list growing in our 2HPS planning table above.
We will emphasize bulkier crops, not typical of vertical rigs like tubers, legumes, and cereals, always aiming for higher protein content.
The list is still short because it takes time to validate yields, but it will grow!
