The 2HPS Double Helix Planter Stand

2hps double helix planter stand

How much food volume (cups or fruit units) does a succession planting cycle provide in a week?

Suppose we answer that simple question for every small edible plant variety. In that case, we could easily plan our vegetable production based on our weekly food needs.

However, sunny garden space is limited in urban areas, and the number of plants needed to obtain a daily food ration is high.

Additionally, it would be desirable to know, at any moment, how many are in each growing stage in the sequence. How many are ready to be harvested, how many are about to be, and how many do you need to replace during the week to ensure the continued, planned food flow.

It is easier to accomplish that with a standard frame that could also facilitate the weekly sowing/harvesting planning.

But that frame could also be the standard that allows food yield comparisons among plant varieties in different climate zones.

The 2HPS Double Helix Planter Stand, is our proposed frame, and this is why:

  1. Its double-helix setup optimizes plant spacing, increasing plant density by at least 40% per square foot compared to a raised bed.
It allows planter accessibility from any side, room to grow, and even sun exposure. With restricted space in a yard or greenhouse, you must use a vertical setup. You can always devise your own, but building your 2HPS will provide an efficient and standardized way to share your results.
  2. It simplifies counting and plant stage identification, synchronized with weekly, seasonal (quarterly), and yearly cycles. Its 13-story structure matches the thirteen weeks of each season, which, multiplied by four, results in the 52 weeks of the year.
  3. Its staircase arrangement, combined with self-watering planters, permits gravity-aided interconnected irrigation.
  4. It is not intended to become a straitjacket. You can apply our growing method principles without it. However, setting it up represents a commitment to change your life to a more self-sustainable one. Once built, you will be reminded daily to fill it up!

And finally, it is easy and inexpensive to build.

If you want to easily assemble it, purchase our 2HPS CORE KIT for only $220.00.

You will have to buy 14 4-foot 6×2-inch boards at your nearest lumber store that will cost less than 70 dollars, but you will set it up faster than doing it from scratch.
